Ever wonder where the name Lightshade came from? It’s actually based off of a crucial stage of the marijuana growth cycle. During the process of growing cannabis, a key point is when the light cycle is changed to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of shade. Get it? This prompts the plants to begin the flowering stage after vegetation. Different strains vary in the amount of time it can take to flower, however most strains fall between 6-10 weeks. After flowering, the plants are harvested, dried and cured. The overall life cycle takes approximately three months from seed to harvest. The Lightshade grow team takes great pride in the process that has been developed to provide each customer with high quality, consistent flower.
To celebrate our favorite part of the grow cycle, each Lightshade location is hosting a special event on this season’s equinox, which occurs twice a year when the sun crosses the equator, and day and night are equal in duration.
